This site has lived on a dedicated server in the 1&1 data center for many years, and i’m frankly just tired of paying the bill for it! 1&1 has some nice dedicated packages, but they’re a little too rich for my blood so i’m moving to a shared hosting environment. Hopefully it won’t suck horribly! Considering the amount of site traffic that I get, I don’t think it will really matter all that much. I’ve tested the new provider and their shared hosting seems to be really fast and reliable. All of the reviews have been good and they’re not a “gigahost” type setup where they oversubscribe the crap out of their servers because they’re whoring out services at $4.95 a month. Only time will tell, but i’m definitely going to leave my old machine in place for a month or two just in case the new place sucks and I have to come back.
